Rugby League Nines Expansion In Pacific 08 July 2015

Rugby League Nines organizers hope the return of the format to the Pacific Games after an eight year absence will prove a springboard for expansion in the region. It was last contested at the 2007 Pacific Games in Samoa and six countries will fight it out for the medals for the two days event. PNG, Fiji, Samoa ,Tonga ,Cook Islands and Solomon Islands will contest the event starting this Saturday. Fiji won the gold medal Cook Islands the silver imitatie horloges nederland and Samoa won the bronze medal and they will be looking to improve their standing when the nines competition starts. The Technical Director of International Rugby League Tas Baitieri said it was great to have rugby league back into the Pacific Games and hopes the concept will expand in the region. He said PNG is the only country in the world to call rugby league their national game and everybody is very excited about the competition which will be very competitive.
