PNG Into Gold Medal Contention In Men's Basketball By Steven Harvey
PNG Into Gold Medal Contention In Men's Basketball 08 July 2015
PNG have now showed the rest of the Pacific that they are Gold Medal contenders and not pretenders after beating Tahiti in a nail biter at the BSP Stadium last night. They beat Tahiti 81-70 and now will play Samoa tomorrow for the gold medal play off decider at the PNG Power Dome this weekend. The presence of the Prime Minister Peter O’Neil and the roaring crowd really lifted PNG as they were trialing for most part of the game. PNG really have to thank their patriotic crowd who cheered for every basket they scored and move they made in the newly built BSP Arena. The women’s competition had a rest day yesterday and will start their play offs today with PNG women taking on the might of Fiji who are so far undefeated in their pool. Defending 2011 Gold Medalist New Caledonia will miss out on the medals playoffs as they have lost a couple of important matches.
