Peter Botten Named Top Performing CEOs In The World 18 Oct 2016

Peter Botten, Oil Search’s Managing Director, has been recognized by the Harvard Business Review or HBR as one of the world’s 100 Top Performing CEOs. HBR’s judging is based on the philosophy that business leaders should be judged by the results that they produce over their entire tenure and that the evaluation should be based on objective data and not public opinion. Mr Botten was first recognized on this list in 2015 when HBR began using ratings of companies’ environmental, social and governance performance to evaluate CEOs for the first time. This year is his 2nd consecutive recognition where he also celebrates his 22nd anniversary as the CEO of Oil Search, Papua New Guinea’s largest listed company, which Botten has led to phenomenal growth. This also makes him the Australian Stock Exchange’s longest-serving CEO. Under his guidance, Oil Search has grown from a market capitalization of around A$300 million to more than A$14 billion. Peter Botten’s standing also goes beyond market performance and reflects his deep engagement with social issues, especially in the country, an important factor for inclusion on HBR’s prestigious list.
