JOINT SUPERVISORY BODY MEETING UNDERWAY IN KOKOPO FOR THE TRANSFER OF POWERS 08 Mar 2012
Prime Minister Peter Oâ€™Neil arrived in East New Britain today to attend the Joint Supervisory Body (JSB) meeting with member from the Autonomous Bougainville Government. Officials from the PNG Government and the Autonomous Bougainville Government are meeting in Kokopo, to finalize the agendas, before the actual JSB meeting gets underway on Wednesday, which will feature Mr. Oâ€™Neil and the President of the Autonomous Region of Bougainville, Chief John Momis.
The meeting will see several Memorandum of Understandings be signed, under different departments for the transfer of powers to the Autonomous Bougainville Government to prepare for the referendum in 2015. President Momis and his delegation have already arrived in Kokopo and the Prime Minister with his key Government Minister arrived in Kokopo today. Chief Secretary to Government Manasupe Zurenuoc arrived in Kokopo on Tuesday morning.
