LOCAL BUSINESSMAN CALLS ON GOVT TO BUILD MANUFACTURING PLANT FOR MECHANIZED MINING

LOCAL Businessman and Managing Director of Tribal Mining Limited who has been in the Alluvial Mining industry for over 20 years has called on the government to build a Manufacturing Plant for mechanized Mining in the Alluvial Mining Sector.
Mr. Justin Parker said this during the Session on Artisanal and Small Mining at the PNG Resources Week, Day 2 Program.
Mr. Parker said the Alluvial Mining Sector needs to be developed because the potential this industry has is unbelievable.
He says if this industry is developed it can raise K3 – K7 billion annually which can contribute to the economy.
He says in this industry every toea a Papua New Guinean makes stays back and benefits the citizens and the nation prospers.
He adds that foreigners are taking the opportunity and tapping into this industry.
He further adds that today the gold price is at its highest so Papua New Guineans can tap into the Artisinal Mining Sector as it is not complex.
Mr. Parker says this industry alone has value over other commodities like coffee, cocoa, copra amongst others as it can bring in 95 percent of revenue.
