GROUNDBREAKING CEREMONY FOR LEVEL 5 PROVINCIAL SPECIALIST HOSPITAL

Last week, the people of Tete Settlement on the outskirts of Gerehu witnessed the ground-breaking ceremony for a new proposed level 5 hospital, which will be built in the area.
Speaking during the ceremony, National Capital District Governor Powes Parkop, being a long time resident of the Gerehu suburb, says he is emotional.
Governor Parkop says he had always imagined, that one day, the Tete Community will change and he believes the building of this world class health facility, will help lift the quality of life for the people.
The governor said a Level 5 Hospital cannot be built in a settlement. Due to this, the development of this health facility, will also see Tete Settlement transformed into a planned suburb.
This Level 5 Provincial Specialist Hospital is part of the Government’s National Health Plan and Development Plan.
Governor Parkop says this hospital is not just for the residents of Port Moresby, but for people of Papua New Guinea & will deliver high standard health care as good as anywhere else in the world.
Governor Powes says he hopes to see this hospital completed and opened by 2027 and urged the people and all stakeholders & development partners, to work together, to realize this goal.
Present at today’s ceremony is Health Minister Elias Kapavore, Chief Secretary Ivan Pomaleu representing Prime Minister James Marape, NDoH Deputy Secretary Dr Ken Wai, NCD City Manager Ravu Frank, other special guests & spectators.
