WAIPO AFFIRMS PNGFA BOARD READY TO IMPLEMENT MTDP IV

Forestry Minister Salio Waipo has affirmed that the PNG Forestry Authority Board is ready to implement government’s Medium-Term Development Plan IV -2023-2027.

Minister Waipo says with the recent transformation in PNG National Forest Authority, the recent opening of the new re-furbished state of the art boardroom and the Swearing In of two newly appointed members to the PNGFA Board, he is certain, the Board is ready.

“PNGFA has taken a bold step as a way forward to the digital world. The MTDP IV states, in this modern age, our politics, our government must change and change into digital technology,” Minister Waipo remarked.


The Minister made these remarks in his official speech yesterday during official opening of the state-of-the-art re-furbished Board room which was named after him as the Salio Waipo Boardroom at the PNGFA Head Office in Port Moresby.

Minister Waipo says with the modernised boardroom, he is certain the national Forest Board is ready to implement the MTDP IV oversight goals of growing the economy to K200 million by 2030, doubled the internal and external revenue, create addition 1 million jobs for Papua New Guineans and achieve PNG’s dream to be the richest black nation in the world.

Meantime, the two new members of the board sworn in yesterday were Steven Yanopa as Community Representative and Milne Bay Provincial Administrator Mr Igo Gari. The addition of the two new board members now completes the required number for the PNG forest Authority Board.


Meanwhile, PNGFA Managing Director Mr John Mosoro in his remarks says, the refurbished Salio Waipo board room is a state-of-the-art facility, equipped with digital and modern ICT equipment.
Mr Mosoro says, PNGFA Board members can use this facility to contribute electronically in their discussion and meetings, whilst further stating that they will be using the “Salio Waipo Boardroom” in the upcoming UN- COP 29 meeting.

He says, this has changed the Phase of ICT in PNGFA after almost 30 years and he is proud that this change came about under his Management.
