In a collaborative effort to address the mounting Health Issues in the country, the National Department of Health and the PNG World Health Organisation launched a new mid term strategic plan “Papua New Guinea World Health Organisation Country Cooperation Strategy (CCS) 2024-2028”

The PNG WHO CCS 2024-2028 provides a framework on how the NDoH and the PNG WHO will work collaboratively with Provincial Health Authorities(PHA) in improving the health and well-being of the people whilst contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals over the next 5 years.

The new strategy is centred around 4 key pillars; building resilient systems for health, ensuring healthier populations, integrating health service delivery targeted to high priority diseases, and improving health security.

Although the strategy was initiated by former Minster for Health Dr Lino Tom, it was officially launched yesterday evening by the newly appointed minister for Health, Hon Elias Kapavore.

Minster Kapavore, assures members of the NDoH and the WHO that ministerial portfolios may change from time to time but the government’s commitment to providing the best health services to it’s people will always remain.

He also assures the people of Papua New Guinea that the NDoH along with PHA and other relevant stakeholders will work together with PNG WHO to make sure this new CCS 2024-2028 will be fruitful in the next 5 years, as the health of the people is the government’s priority.
