EDUCATION SECRATARY CONDEMNS BULLYING OF PAUSA STUDENT
Secretary for Education, Dr. Uke Kombra has condemned the recent bullying and assault of a female student at Pausa Lutheran Secondary School, while also addressing the serious allegations of sexual misconduct involving a male teacher.
Dr. Kombra expressed deep concern over the incident and vowed to take swift and decisive action to address the issue.
He is appalled by the reports of bullying and assault involving some male students at Pausa Lutheran Secondary School, as well as the allegations of sexual misconduct and the uploading of their video assaulting the female student on social media (Facebook) which has gone viral.
He said such behavior is completely unacceptable and has no place in the educational institutions.
Dr. Kombra emphasized the importance of creating a safe and supportive learning environment for all students, regardless of gender. He has directed for a thorough investigation into the incident and assured the public that those responsible would be held accountable.
While acknowledging the seriousness of the allegations against the male students and the teacher, the Secretary also stressed the importance of conducting a fair and thorough investigation to gather all the facts.
He urged the public to refrain from making assumptions or judgments until the investigation is complete, as preliminary reports indicate a different version to the social media post and comments.
He said the authorities must conduct a thorough investigation into these matters as it is essential that the principle of justice is upholded and ensure all parties involved are treated fairly.
Dr. Kombra also urged parents and guardians to play an active role in addressing bullying and harassment.
He encouraged them to report any incidents to school authorities and to work with the school to develop strategies to prevent such occurrences in the future.
Meanwhile, the Secondary School Inspector for Enga Province has been instructed to charge and suspend the teacher and not to interfere with eye witnesses while the investigation is going on.
