NORTH FLY VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT UNDERWAY
The Fly River Volleyball Association North Fly MP’s Cup Tournament kicked off on Thursday, October 31, in Drimdamasuk village, East Awin area, attracting hundreds of spectators.
The game was officiated by nominated member Mr. Karu Philly and North Fly District Administrator Mr. Greg Isau, emphasizing their active involvement in the tournament.
Eleven teams from various villages in Kiunga Rural and Ningerum LLG are currently competing.
These teams are Tionam 1 and 2, Fly River 1 and 2, Moian, Gibu, Karim, Gii, Iowara, Bige, and Iogi.
Initiated by local MP James Donald, the tournament aims to engage local youths in sports activities.
Last year’s champions, the Tionams of Drimdamasuk, are hosting this year’s event after winning the cup from Kiunga.
The games are proceeding smoothly, with auxiliary police ensuring law and order at the venue.
