EMERGENCY CALLS SURGE IN EAST NEW BRITAIN
By Wasita ROYAL, Kokopo
ST John Ambulance Emergency service in Kokopo, East New Britain has reported a spike in emergency calls in the province, coming in from as far as areas in the Gazelle District, like Gaulim, Toma and Waragoi.
Most calls coming in are “Sick Person Incidents”.
This has prompted the ambulance service to alert the general public and the communities to utilise the 111 Emergency call only for urgent and genuine medical emergencies and those with non-urgent cases to make their way to a health facility nearby.
In a recent brief interview, St Ambulance Driver Mr Micahel Tike, highlighted these adding that St. John Ambulance continues to closely monitor situations and is working to ensure it can continue to respond effectively to emergency calls across East New Britain.
