INVESTIGATION INTO CORRUPTION CASE CONTINUES; 2 ARRESTED & CHARGED

Following the progressive investigative report into the Madang Provincial Hospital Health Authority Corruption Case, Madang Police proceeds into executing formal arrests on the first two persons of interest, the former CEO of Madang Provincial Health Authority, Mr. Fidelis Waipma and the Human Resource Manageress of Madang Provincial Health Authority, Ms. Ann Pukari.

The case of former MPHA CEO centred around breaching the Criminal Code Act and he was formally charged with four counts stated as follows:

1. Section 404 (1) (a), CCA – Obtaining goods/ stealing by False Pretense (C/B 1797/24)

2. Section 92 (1) (2), CCA – Abuse of Office (C/B 1798/24)

3. Section 407 (1) (b), CCA – Conspiracy (two charges each) (C/B 1799/24 & 1780/24)

The Madang provincial Police Commander Acting Superintendent, Robert Baim granted a Police Bail of K5, 000.00.

Ms. Ann PUKARI was also charged with two (2) charges under (Ref. O/B # 262/11);

1. Section 404 – Stealing by False Pretense (C/B 1789/24)

2. Section 92 (1) (2) – Abuse of Office (C/B 1790/24)

Meantime, Madang Provincial Commander Superintendent Robert Baim said investigations are still ongoing and more arrests will be made this week and next week.

PPC Baim further stressed that suspects are innocent until proven guilty by a court of law.

Both parties will appear in court once all documents are ready.

PPC Baim has also warned individuals not to disrupt the process of the investigations, as investigations are still ongoing.
