THE Bill to amend the income tax on pensions for judges to be exempted from taxes will be brought before parliament as parliament resumes at 2pm.

Parliament will put forward the new legislation or bill that was brought before the Parliament this morning by Attorney General Mr Pila Niningi on Tax Exemption for the Judges service in the Legal and Judiciary system of the country.

Mr. Niningi tabled the new bill and already made two readings, which also sparked a few comments from both the government and opposition.

In his third reading, Parliament was suspended, and Mr. Niningi will continue from there to pass the new bill for serving judges to be exempted, meaning they will not pay personal income tax to the government under the Income tax Act 1959.

Meanwhile, Ialibu-Pangia MP Peter O’Neill and Oro Governor Garry Juffa supported the bill but urged the government to look for better ways to address than zero income tax for specific groups of public servants.
