MRU LOOKING FORWARD TO 7s SEASON

ith just 3 months to go before the start of Morobe Rugby Union 2025 season proper, it’s 7s season for the MRU. Greg Golman, the General Manager for the Morobe Rugby Union stated that he is excited for the 2025 calendar.
Speaking to the FM100 Sports desk, Mr. Golman said they are now preparing for the MRU 7s calendar which will see the annual MRU 7s competition take place and following this the Trans-Highway 7s.
He said at the moment the Union is looking at organizing the teams for the first tourney, with dates for the competition yet to be finalized. Following the success of last year’s Representative round, the MRU are looking forward to this season’s rugby calendar and are anticipating high quality rugby this in 2025.
Meanwhile, As the Rugby 7s season takes off in the Morobean capital of Lae, the Morobe Rugby Union is working to ensure the schedule for the 2025 season coincides with all major events this year. Golman said they have yet to confirm dates for the start of the season.
He stated that usually, due to the number of teams taking part in the competition the seasons tend to be much shorter and so the MRU would like to set their season calendar in line with the representative match dates.
He said another achievement that the MRU were proud of was having the Morobe Hammerhead Sharks feature in the Representative round last year and they will be coming back this year more-hungrier for revenge against their old foes, the CRU Boromas.
