INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY KING’S MEDAL
The general public is being urged to participate in nominating outstanding Papua New Guineans for a special commemorative medal at the 50th Independence Anniversary of the King’s Medal.
Acting Official Secretary, Office of the Governor General, Mr. Bill Toraso stated that nominations for the King’s Medal will close at the end of this month.
The 50th Independence King’s Medal recognizes individuals who have contributed immensely to Papua New Guinea’s development and which has had a significant impact in communities and/or as a positive influence and role model to others.
Following the endorsement and approval of this special commemorative medal by His Majesty King Charles III last year, Governor General Grand Chief Sir Bob Dadae launched the King’s Medal inviting the public to nominate persons for this special award.
The Governor General will travel to the four regions of the country beginning in June this year to present the King’s Medal as part of celebrations marking the country’s 50th Independence Anniversary.
