GOVERNMENT CRITIZED FOR LACK OF IMPROVEMENTS
By Nigel MADO
Addressing the state of governance, the Deputy Opposition Leader, James Nomane pointed to the lack of improvements in critical areas affecting the lives of ordinary citizens.
He said after five years, there’s been no solution and no improvement with respect to inflation, law and order, the health crisis, and high attrition rates in education, what logic are the Government applying to think that there will be a solution in the next year?
He added that such inaction underscores a fundamental problem with the country’s leadership.
The speech also drew attention to the plight of vulnerable groups in Papua New Guinea, particularly women, girls, and the elderly.
He challenged the Police Minister, Peter Tsiamalili Jnr stating that if he is confident that this government is performing at a level that promotes safety, then he should come out in public and say so, noting the dire need for effective measures to ensure public safety.
The Opposition Leader concluded by calling for a change in political leadership, describing it as necessary to “save the country” from further deterioration. “It is time to move a vote of no confidence and bring in leadership that prioritizes the national interest over political expediency,” he stated.
The legal proceedings and the growing discontent within Parliament signal a significant political showdown as Papua New Guinea grapples with pressing governance challenges and constitutional integrity.
