WNSL FINALS STAGE SET
THE Women’s Conference Soccer League quarter-final stage is set with six teams have confirmed their place for the play-offs on Saturday.
PNGFA Competition Manager Paul Isorua confirmed the six teams from the three conferences – the Highlands, the Northern, and the Southern have been decided while the NGI Eastern Conference is yet to complete its matches.
In the Southern Conference, the run-away leader Hekari United FC and the second-placed Allies FC will play in the quarter-final. Despite Bernice having a wash-out match against Tarangau come Wednesday, it won’t affect the overall points table.
Lae City Dwellers FC was the clear leader of the Northern Conference with 24 points while FC Morobe Wawens fighting for survival with 18 points will play each other to determine the winner.
The winner will represent the Northern Conference for a spot in the semifinal.
In the Highlands Conference, the rivalry continued when Wabag Mommers took on Goroka FC in the WCSL quarter final. Goroka is the in-form team at the moment which includes their victory over leaders, Mommers in Round 8 of the competition.
This match should be interesting to watch.
The quarterfinal will see a one-off match and the winner advance to the semi-final while the loser bows out.
