HIGHLANDS CONFERENCE WCSL CALLS FOR SUPPORT IN RISING FOOTBALL TALENT

The Wabag Momers Football Club(FC) has secured top spot the Women’s Conference Soccer League, Highlands region after dominating 4-0 victory over the Simbu Ambai last weekend.


This is the Momers third consecutive year, finishing first in the ladder.

WCSL Highlands Conference Games Coordinator Games Coordinator, Paul Taule said both Wabag Mommers FC and Goroka FC have demonstrated outstanding performances this season, showcasing remarkable growth and consistency.


He adds that both clubs have strategically recruited young and talented schoolgirls from their junior competitions, which has significantly contributed to their improved gameplay and overall team dynamics.


He emphasized the importance of including more promising young athletes as it not only highlights their commitment to nurturing grassroots talent but also sets a strong foundation for the future of women’s soccer in the region.


Taule urges potential sponsors, organizations, and individuals to extend their support to these provincial clubs adding that the support would not only help sustain their current success but also inspire and empower more young women to pursue soccer at competitive levels.


“Investing in these teams ensures the continuous development of the sport and creates opportunities for aspiring athletes to achieve their full potential, both on and off the field,” he said.
