CASKET OF LATE SIR JULIUS ARRIVES IN KAVIENG

THE spotlight is on New Ireland as the body of the late Sir Julius Chan arrived in Kavieng at 3pm today.
Brought home by the Royal Australian Army Aircraft accompanied by his children.


Prime Minister James Marape and other senior state Ministers were on the ground to receive the casket of the last man standing at Kavieng Airport.


Member for Namatanai -Minister Civil Aviation Walter Schnaubelt and Member for Kavieng, Treasurer Ian Ling Stuckey were part of the state Ministers delegate, present to witness Sir J’s homecoming.


From the airport the body was taken to the Provincial Assembly for the formal handing over of the body by Prime Minister James Marape to the Provincial Authorities.


The body of the late Sir Julius will stay in Kavieng for 2 days and continue to Manmantinut on Wednesday.


Burial will eventuate on Thursday where he will be laid to rest at his private home in Manmantinut, Huris, Namatanai, New Ireland Province.
