NEW DIALYSIS AND TURP UNIT FOR THE PARADISE PRIVATE HOSPITAL

Paradise Private Hospital is moving forward in modern health care delivery with the launch of a Dialysis and Transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) unit today.
Lifestyle diseases are one of the most life-threatening issues recorded in the country and today the doors of the new Dialysis Unit and the TURP of the Paradise Private Hospital were officially opened marking a significant milestone for the hospital’s mission and vision to provide excellent medical care and service and to improve lives by shaping the future of healthcare.
In his remarks co-founder and chairman of Paradise Private Hospital Dr. Robin Sios said last year the hospital celebrated its 65th year of operating in the country and the past 10 years has been a challenged but with the newly acquired state of the art medical equipment, they hope to provide the best health care services to the men of women in the country.
Dr Sios said this now elevates the hospital status from primary level of health care to secondary and tertiary level of health care offering specialist medical health care for patients.
He extended his gratitude to the medical staff and the corporate staff for working together to achieve this milestone for the hospital.
Also present at the launch was the Papua New Guinea Medical Board registrar, Dr Alphonse Tay who shared his excitement for this new milestone for one of the private hospitals in the country.
Mr Tay commended the Board and staff of the Paradise on this advancement in the health space, as this is very new to the country.
Meanwhile the Chief Executive Officer of Paradise Private Hospital and a renowned surgeon in the country, Dr Polapoi Chalau said this modern medical equipment were not available back in the 1990’s, PNG doctors had to perform manual surgery.
He adds that with this day and age, the biggest disease that seems to be affecting the people is lifestyle diseases, such as cancer, diabetes, kidney disease amongst others.
Dr Chalau said, the Dialysis is a treatment that removes waste and extra fluid from the blood when the kidneys are no longer functioning properly whilst the Transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) is a surgical procedure that removes prostate tissue to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
While extending his gratitude to Westpac for their financial support and making this possible, Dr Chalau also added that they will be consulting with specialists from the Port Moresby General Hospital to deliver the best medical service to patients in the country.
Remarkably, the hospital shared that yesterday, it registered its first case of TURP procedure, the surgery was successful and the patient is now in recovery.
