After recently winning the crown of the Miss Bird of Paradise 2024/2025 in December last year, May Hasola proudly represented Papua New Guinea in the 2025 Miss Pacific Islands Pageant, although her first-time in the international stage, her vibrant personality has earned her an award in the best Sarong attire of the crowning ceremony of the pageant last night.
May Hasola represented Papua New Guinea well in all categories of the pageant. Papua New Guinea is a diverse land as such it is hard to capture all the cultures of the 4 regions however the 21-year law student from University of Papua New Guinea captured it so well in her traditional inspired attire and talent category, displaying the diverse cultures of PNG on the Solomon Islands stage for the world to see.
However, it was her Sarong attire that won her an award. She wore the Sarong with a design similar to the Queen Alexandra’s birdwing butterfly, that is native to the rainforests of Oro Province, Papua New Guinea. Remarkably, Miss PNG’s predecessor Tyla Crystal Singirok also won in the Sarong category in 2024 Miss Pacific Islands Pageant. Meanwhile, Miss Samoa, Litara Ieremia-Allan is the 2025 Miss Pacific Islands while Miss Tonga, Racheal Guttenbeil is the first runner.
This will be Samoa’s 9th Miss Samoa to win the Miss Pacific Islands Crown, since the pageant’s inception in 1987.
