MADANG POLICE CONDEMN SEXUAL ASSAULT OF MINOR

By Martha LOUISE
Madang police have strongly condemned the sexual assault of a three-and-a-half-year-old girl, calling the incident a disturbing and inhumane act that must not be tolerated.
Acting Provincial Police Commander, Superintendent Robert Baim, described the crime as abhorrent and vowed that justice would be served.
Baim said the actions of the suspect are completely unacceptable in the society. They will ensure that the perpetrator faces the full force of the law.
According to police reports, the attack took place on December 29, 2024, at DCA Settlement. The suspect allegedly lured the young girl and her one-year-old brother to a secluded area behind James Barnes Cannery, where the assault occurred.
PPC Baim has urged the community to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious behavior that could prevent such crimes.
He says the safety of children is a collective responsibility and they must work together to protect the most vulnerable members of the society.
He also emphasized the need for stronger victim support systems, including access to counseling, medical care, and legal assistance.
Investigations into the case are ongoing, and authorities are calling on the public to come forward with any information that could aid in ensuring justice is served.
