The owner of the Diga Trading, Mr. Desmond Diga who has been operating in the Autonomous Region of Bougainville for the last year as a cash agent for BSP has praised the BSP Wantok Wallet product and has stated that this will go a long way for those in the unbanked populations of the country.
Speaking to the FM100 Newsroom in Kokopau this week, Mr. Diga stated that this will bring banking access to those that struggle to produce proper documentation to open news bank accounts.
He highlighted the importance of this service, noting the absence of banking facilities in the area of Kokopau.
“This is a transit town, and many people need a secure way to manage their money,” he said.
BSP representatives emphasized that the Wantok Wallet allows customers to use their mobile numbers as bank accounts, making transactions more accessible for those in remote areas.
“More customers will now be able to engage in digital transactions, leading to a more dynamic local economy,” said Desmond Diga.
He said this service is particularly beneficial for farmers and small business owners who previously faced challenges in managing their finances.
