The 2025 Trukai Fun Run T-shirt was officially launched tonight at the Grand Papua Hotel, marking 25 years of Trukai Industries’ support for Team PNG.
This year’s Fun Run aligns with PNG’s 50th Independence celebrations, reinforcing national pride and community unity.
Trukai General Manager Andrew Grace emphasized the company’s long standing commitment to sports, stating, “Trukai has been in PNG for over 50 years, and our support for the Fun Run spans 25 years a quarter of a century. We are proud to be part of this journey with the PNG Olympic Committee.”
The highlight of the night was the unveiling of the 2025 Fun Run T-shirt, priced at an affordable K15. Grace noted, “This year, we challenged our team to deliver a better-quality shirt at a lower price. A family of six can now participate for under K100.”
Minister Assisting the Sports Minister, Sam Basil Jr., commended Trukai and PNGOC for their dedication, saying, “The Fun Run is more than just a race; it’s a movement that unites Papua New Guineans in the spirit of health, fitness, and national pride.”
He urged the public to support Team PNG by purchasing T-shirts and participating in the Fun Run, adding, “Your contribution directly supports our athletes as they prepare for the 2025 Pacific Mini Games in Palau.”
PNGOC President Emma Waiwai emphasized the importance of the Fun Run in helping Team PNG compete internationally.
She noted that proceeds from T-shirt sales directly contribute to athletes’ preparations for major events like the 2025 Pacific Mini Games in Palau.
Waiwai encouraged the public to take part, stating that every T-shirt purchase is an investment in PNG’s sporting future.
The T-shirt auctions will be held on:
Lae: May 2, 2025
Port Moresby: May 9, 2025
The Fun Run is set for June 8, 2025, with nationwide participation expected.
Basil concluded, “Let’s run together for a healthier, stronger, and more united Papua New Guinea. One team, one dream.”
With just 109 days until Team PNG departs for Palau, tonight’s launch reinforced the power of sports, unity, and national pride in shaping the nation’s future.
