ENGA WOMEN SHOWC AGRICULTURAL PRODUCE & LOCALLY PROCESSED PRODUCTS

The Enga Enda Anda Associated (EEAA) held its monthly SME Women in Agriculture Market at Wabag this morning attracting women groups from all six districts of the province.

Women groups proudly showcased both locally grown produce and processed spices, honey and jam products including bilums and woven products.

Deputy Provincial Administrator Economic Services Dr. Londari Pakena spoke highly of the perseverance and innovation skills showcased by the women in producing locally grown spices, honey and jam for national and international markets.

He mentioned the Enga Provincial Government’s continuous support for women in agribusiness and urged them to continue working in organized groups for recognition and continuous support.

Enga Provincial Government Director for Commerce and Industry Margaret Potane sincerely acknowledged the continuous support and corporation of women groups in showing the locally grown and processed products to national and international markets.

She highlighted the business arrangements currently in place with major supermarket companies in the country and overseas buyers.

She encouraged the women to eventually venture into large scale commercial farming to meet the supply demands of the companies on a regular basis.

The Enga Provincial Government Cash Crops Officer Ms Davinah Apupuni also attended this gathering along with representatives from the Enga Chamber of Commerce.
