CAPITAL RUGBY UNION 2025 SEASON LAUNCHED

Good news for rugby fanatics in the capital this week as round 1 of the capital Rugby Union [CRU] is set to get underway this weekend. The CRU and CRUW 2025 season was launched last night, in a small but significant gathering at the Royal Papua Yacht Club.

CRU President and former PNG Pukpuk Representative, Kori Chan stated that he was delighted with the continuous support from the major sponsors despite the current situation with the code in the country.

Recapping last season, Chan stated that they were proud of what they have been able to achieve and are slowly working towards enhancing the game in the capital and moreover the country as a whole.

The President also took the opportunity to share the 4 main pillars of the CRU, which are the main competition, development of junior programs, inception of the representative matches and the final pillar of developing women’s rugby and enhancing the current competition in the capital.

Chan went on to express that throughout all that the union had been through in the last decade was that their passion for the sport never dies.
