RUMGINAE School of Nursing (RSON) has reached a remarkable milestone and celebrated 50 years Golden Jubilee of training and graduating over 800 Community Health Workers (CHWs) since its establishment in 1960.

Recognized as one of the top-performing CHW training institutions in Papua New Guinea, RSON’s reputation has extended beyond the Western Province, drawing students from across the country.

The Golden Jubilee celebration was attended by representatives from key partners, including OTML, Lotic Bige Limited, North Fly District Health, Catholic Health Services, ECPNG Health Services, World Vision, the North Fly District Administration, and various church groups.

Principal Amos Kupaloma dedicated the school’s success to the collective support from government agencies, churches, NGOs, private landowner groups, and the business sector, expressing gratitude for their continued involvement over the decades.

He also acknowledged the pioneering missionaries who founded the school and commended their leadership and sacrifices, which laid the foundation for the institution’s current progress under national leadership.

Reverend Sam Awaisa, representing the Evangelical Church of PNG (ECPNG) and serving as Chairman of the RSON Board, emphasized that ECPNG views education and health services as an integral part of its ministry.
