PNG MEDIA SUMMIT GAINS MOMENTUM

PNG Media Summit 2025 has received a significant boost with Kumul Consolidated Holdings (KCH) and the Hilton Hotel stepping forward as early supporters.
KCH has committed K20,000 as a Bronze Sponsor, demonstrating their strong commitment to the development of a robust and ethical media landscape in Papua New Guinea.
The Hilton Hotel, in a first with the PNG Media sector, has generously offered to host the summit at their venue, free of charge.
An initiative of the Media Council of Papua New Guinea and organised by Women in Media Papua New, this inaugural event will take place on Saturday, May 3rd, 2025, at the Hilton Hotel in Port Moresby.
Themed “AI, Ethics & Standards in PNG’s Media Future,” this crucial gathering is already attracting significant interest, highlighting its importance for the nation’s evolving media sector, 50 years and beyond.
Neville Choi, President of the Media Council of PNG, expressed his gratitude for the early support and emphasised the need for broad participation.

This summit offers a unique platform to address the challenges and opportunities presented by AI and our country’s dynamic media environment.
All media professionals, policymakers, academics, and all stakeholders are urged to join in the summit in shaping the future of media in PNG.
The summit will also feature a MEDIA MIXER EVENT, providing a platform to explore the growing influence of digital media content creators and the role of satire and comedy in addressing social issues.
This session will include veteran journalist Scott Waide in conversation with popular online content creators such as Yabil, Bata Rat, and Prudent Kumul prompting discussions on their impact and potential for regulation.
The summit will serve as the first public engagement for the Women in Media PNG Chapter, a network dedicated to improving the situation of women working in the media across Papua New Guinea.
Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the chapter’s mission to support media women through leadership development, promoting fair and safe workplaces, and strengthening media professionalism.
