ROTARY AGAINST MALARIA BLOOD DONATION DRIVE

ROTARY Against Malaria (RAM) team, collaborated with the Northern Provincial Health Authority, organized a blood donation drive yesterday at Popondetta General Hospital in recognition of the World Malaria Day.
Henry Tamani Saofe, Oro Provine Malaria Supervisor, emphasized on the importance of blood donation for the hospital’s blood bank.
He said this initiative is part of a lead up activity to observe the World Malaria day.
He thanked the partners who were very supportive towards the program including the local business houses and the media for being part of the team raise Malaria awareness and encourage voluntary blood donation in the province.
Saofe said, having an adequate blood supply can save lives, especially during emergencies.
Nurse Rosabel Begema, who works in the hospital’s blood bank, expressed her gratitude to both the RAM team and the donors.
She said the hospital is extremely thankful to everyone who has volunteered. The blood donations are vital to help those in need.
Nurse Begema also urged the public to continue support the drive, which will remain open for donations over the weekend and in the following week.
So far, a total of 18 donors volunteered during the drive, with 9 being eligible to donate.
As of now, 9 blood bags have been successfully collected to support the hospital’s critical care needs.
The blood donation drive remains ongoing, with the RAM team urging residents of Oro Province to contribute and support the hospital’s efforts to provide vital care to those in need.
