DOWH PARTNERS WITH UNITECH TO FACILITATE EXECUTIVE MASTERS PROGRAM

THE Papua New Guinea University of Technology (Unitech) has partnered with the Department of Works and Highways (DOWH) to set up a campus in Port Moresby to allow for interested students take up Executive Masters in Business Administration (EMBA) program.
This was made possible through a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between DOWH and Unitech that was signed on Monday at DOWH Headquarters in Port Moresby.
The agreement facilitates further collaboration efforts in the field of training and development.
With 10 participants already registered under this program, seven from the Department of Works and Highways, three from other government agencies.
DOWH Secretary Mr. Gibson Holemba in his speech said the Department is a technical government agency responsible for the infrastructure development of the country therefore it is more willing to partner with Unitech to maximize training and development opportunities for its workforce, not only for the EMBA program at the executive level, but also the technical skills training.
Mr. Holemba says the current program with the EMBA is just a starting point for the department to work with the University and bring other training programs.
He says the department is looking at redeveloping the headquarters to cater for the campus to be used for research and training purposes.
He adds that they will build up the campus to run a fully-fledged online university program in partnership with the University.
Meanwhile Unitech’s Vice Chancellor Professor Ora Renagi thanked DOWH for the partnership and looks forward to growth and success in executing this EMBA program in Port Moresby.
Professor Renagi said gradually they will increase this partnership and will have other programs such as Engineering, Computer Science, Business can be delivered as well and with technology flourishing in the society these programs can be delivered online.
