AFTER thirteen years, the Media Awards returned with a bang on Saturday night at the Stanley Hotel in Port Moresby; a fitting way to celebrate and commemorate World Press Freedom Day.
Hosted by the Media Council of Papua New Guinea (MCPNG) along with it’s esteemed partners, the Awards Night saw media representatives from major print, on-line, radio and television outlets, come together, to acknowledge and reward, the roles & outstanding work that media does in Papua New Guinea.
Kalang Advertising Limited (KAL), through it’s Flagship Station FM100 Nasfund Talk Back Show, bagged the Award for “Best Radio Show”.
On hand to receive this award was KAL’s ICT Manager, Ms Luanne Borle.
She says winning the award for “The Best Radio Show” just shows that despite all the challenges, FM100 has continued to deliver on good and quality content for its listeners.
Pawa Meri, Jivannah Thavala, who host three different shows including the FM100’s Breakfast Show, Reggae One Love Show and the SP Sports Breakfast show, also received an award, taking out the “Radio Presenter of the Year” Award.
President of the MCPNG Mr Neville Choi, thanked all their sponsors for a wonderful night and promised to make the Media Awards an annual event, with an even bigger and better one planned for next year.
