More than 900 students of Marianville Catholic Secondary School graduated with certificates from the Senisim PNG (Transformation PNG) program yesterday, a program organized by the Papua New Guinea Tribal Foundation and the Department of Education following a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed in November 2024.
PNG Tribal Foundation President Gary Bustin stated that it took a lot of effort to launch the program, with Marianville being the first school to participate.
He noted that the program is expanding to other parts of the country and is making a significant impact on students.
The Senisim PNG Program teaches students important values such as hope, honesty, responsibility, humility, and integrity, empowering them to become value-based leaders in Papua New Guinea.
The special occasion at the school’s campus marks the culmination of eleven weeks of group discussions that began in February.
Student representatives from grades 9 to 12 took the stage to share what they have learned and achieved during the 11-week program while a total of 18 student representatives received certificates on behalf of over 900 students.
In attendance to the program were the Education acting deputy secretary Camillus Kanau, PNG Tribal Foundation President Gary Bustin and representatives from ExxonMobil, one of the program’s sponsors.
