ISI LEONARD HOLDS DIALOGUE WITH SAMARAI-MURUA COMMUNITY IN PORT MORESBY

SAMARAI- Murua MP Isi Henry Leonard recently held a dialogue with the Samarai-Murua Community in Port Moresby outlining the different project development in the district.
In a small gathering at Nature Park, the community gather to discuss issues happening in the Samarai Murua district.

In his remarks, MP Leonard emphasized that a lot of things are happening and there are alot of issues affecting the lives of the people. The gathering was to establish a baseline of common understanding to move on going forward.

MP Leonard says as a mandated leader he has to move things in his 5year term as Member for Samarai Murua district adding in his five-year term, he needed to initiate some programs for the district and the reason for the dialogue was to ensure the people of Samarai Murua know what is happening in the district and for the country.

He says, the only way forward for the country to change is through changes in the district as he highlighted the different programs and development projects in the district that included carbon trade and forestry, fisheries, tourism and mining amongst others, whilst also noting Woodlark island becoming a tourism hub as a resolution by the National Executive Council to be one of the 69 special projects.

MP Leonard further says, his district boasts a lot of mining activities that have come and go in the past and the most recent one being the Misima mine, that was decommissioned,

The district has alot to offer in the tourism and fisheries sectors and other notable programs to attract investors to do business in the district.

Amongst the invited guest present at the dialogue, were Dr Ila Ava, Advisor to the National Planning Minister, who is involved in the roll out very important and key programs in the district in arranging a framework agreement for a fishing project development.

Also Present was Ambassador Joshua Kalinoe, amongst others who are involved in the development of projects in the district
