RPNGC HOST INNAUGURAL PACIFIC POLICE BAND TATTOO AT SIR HUBERT MURRAY

THE Sir Hubert Murray Stadium here in Port Moresby is current hosting a spectacular and significant event, the inaugural Pacific Police Tattoo today as part of the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary leadup celebrations to the 50th Independence Anniversary.

Ten police bands from the Pacific Islands countries including Fiji, Samoa,  amongst others to be part of this inaugural event.

This week long celebrations continued on from Sunday, with a Parade at Ela Beach and will continue today with the Pacific Band Police Tattoo and will conclude tomorrow, commemorating the Rememberance day on Wednesday 23rd of July.

RPNGC Band Drum Major, Chief Sergeant Alu Kapa in an interview with the Australian Federal Police at the Sir Hubert Murray Stadium shared his thoughts stating that he is privilege and happy to lead the Police Band in this first ever Police Band tattoo adding that he is proud to march out with his police officers most of which are new recruits as old police Band members have retired.

Major, Chief Sergeant Alu Kapa was emotional in saying that it is a privilege for him to lead the Police Band in PNG as the host, adding that this will be his last Police Band Tattoo before he retires.

The event is attended by Deputy Prime Minister John Rosso, RPNGC Commissioner David Manning, together with other Police Commissioners from the Pacific Islands, dignitaries, and the public.
