FRANCE INVESTOR TO DEVELOP BUSINESS CASE TO TRANSFORM WOODLARK’S EDENYA RESORT TO TOURISM HUB

GIMS Group International, a company from France are currently the country to visit Woodlark Island in the Samarai Murua District of Milne Bay province and develop a business case in transforming the Edenya Resort and transform to a tourism hub.

The Edenya resort is more than a tourism initiative, it is a vision of transformation, promising job creation, economic empowerment, environmental stewardship and international connectivity.

Mr Arthur Lerhmann Project Manager for Gims Group International and also representing the CEO of Gims Group International, in his remarks he says this is opportunity to expose and bring Papua New Guineato the world whilst also noting that PNG is a special place and they want to bring more profit into the country through this project.

Local Member for Samarai Murua District, Isi Henry Leonard highlighted that the initial engagement of this project came about after the World Expo in 2019, where 22 Letters of Intent were signed, two of which were successful, for Alluvial Mining and Tourism.

MP Isi Leonard highlighted that Woodlark is the ideal location with its uniqueness to offer in terms of tourism.

He further adds the Samarai Murua District is very fortunate to have an investor from France and Israel who able to come together and put together a concept to attract people from all over the world, bringing their technology, ideas and know how to develop this concept of eco tourism.

MP Isi Leonard also acknowledged how the country’s image has been badly portrayed internationally, however he emphasised the need to revamp and improve the rebranding of Papua New Guinea trhough tourism, and Woodlark Island will provide that initial phase for rebranding.

The team will leave Port Moresby and travel to Woodlark Island today.
