1 SUSPECT SHOT IN KINABOT ROBBERY, 7 STILL AT LARGE

POLICE units in Kokopo have shot a suspect and are rounding up 7 others following a violent home robbery at Kinabot in Kokopo between 7and 8pm today.

Reports have confirmed that eight armed men targeted a home, armed with homemade guns and bush knives, manage to get over the razor wire fence and held up the hausboy and his wife.

A swift response from 6 police units with assistance from SAS Security, a local security firm, tracked the suspects and shot one of the suspects while attempting to escape to Raniolo settlement just outside Kokopo town.

A manhunt is currently ongoing for the seven other suspects and all residents in the area have been urged to report any suspicious strangers to police immediately.

This is the fourth time this residence has been targeted in a string of armed robberies.
