MADANG POLICE READY FOR INDEPENDENCE OPERATIONS

MADANG police will begin their Independence Operations on today to keep order as Papua New Guinea celebrates 50 years of Independence.
Provincial Police Commander Acting Superintendent Robert Baim affirmed that Police will be out in full force, targeting troublemakers, alcohol suppliers and anyone disturbing the independence celebrations.
“We will not tolerate anyone becoming an iron man and disturbing peaceful celebrations. Police will be out in full force,” he said
He also urged prison escapees to surrender to police. “Come forward, let the courts decide your fate, and move on in life into the next 50 years,” he said.
te further said the operation will also target homebrew and public drinking, while residents playing loud music after 10pm risk police bail.
Baim called on the public to celebrate responsibly.
“Madang must show the way as the nation celebrates its Golden Jubilee,” he said
