POLLING in the Urban Local level government in Goroka district was successful besides a few disruptions in other areas in town.
The Goroka Urban LLG Ward 3 area successfully completed its polling at the Rotary Park polling site for Kama and the Housing Commission area.
According to the Goroka Urban LLG Presiding Officer Douglas Siove and Assistant Presiding officer Asha Koko a total of 1346 ballot papers were successfully completed by voters in the area.
Mr Koko said voting begun at 10:30am and successfully ended before 1pm.
Meanwhile, Eastern Highlands Provincial Police Commander Chief Superintendent John Kale commented that police deployment for polling and counting is all set.
He said security forces had a briefing last week Saturday and all field Commanders have been given their detail tasks, clearly outlined.
PPC Kale said “the only main setback for police in the province is, there was not enough support given to us by the Provincial Government and few other districts, they know who they are. Otherwise all good.”
Polling update for the rest of the 25 LLGs in the province is yet to be given, however polling is expected to continue into tomorrow for the remote parts of the province according to Eastern Highlands Election Manager Steven Gore Kaupa.
