THE remote LLGs of Eastern Highlands Province Marawaka in Obura Wonenara district and the Mt Micheal and Unavi LLGs is the first in the Eastern Highlands Province to begin counting since the weekend.
Eastern Highlands Provincial Election Manager Steven Gore Kaupa said generally for all LLGs counting has begun since yesterday and is expected to be completed by the end of this week.
He said official declarations will be made by the Election Manager once the respective assistant returning officers have completed the counting process.
He appealed to all candidates and people for their cooperation and support to ensure the smooth flow of the counting process, with the limited time availability for the return of writs.
He said with the limited funding availability counting for each LLG is strictly to be completed within 5 days and no more because of the limited funding.
He said the deadline of the return of writs for EHP is the 14th of November, however, with the deadline 10 days away he appealed to candidates and their supporters to ensure the process is successfully completed and to raise any grievances that they may have through the AROs in appropriate means.
He added that the responsibility now lays in ensuring the votes of the people is counted.
