UOG STUDENTS CALLS FOR IMMEDIATE EVACUATION OUT OF CAMPUS

ALL students attending the University of Goroka are now urgently calling on their local MPs to immediately evacuate them out of the campus, as the situation has escalated and is now very tense since the clash between locals and UOG students over the weekend that has resulted in 47 students injured.

In recent pleas for assistance on social media post, the students from various provinces say they have today and tomorrow to vacate the campus and by Wednesday, UOG campus should be empty.

Some MPs have responded and arrange for students evacuation, such like Bulolo MP Sam Basil Jnr who have arrange vehicles, Western Highlands Governor Wai Rapa has also arrange 21 PMV buses and escorts, Yangoru Sausia MP and East Sepik Governor Allan Bird ready to fund students’ repatriation amongs other MPs who have also reached out and answered to assist and repatriate the students home safely.

Deputy Prime Minister and Lae MP John Rosso in a recent statement has also arrange for the repatriation of Morobe Students and also extended assistance to other students especially from the New Islands Region to travel with the Lae students to Lae and later arrange for their travel out of Lae to their home provinces.

This situation escalated following the attack of a UOG student by locals over the weekend, which saw students retaliated and the situation escalated to what it is now, students have been injured and properties damaged.

Higher Education Minister and Ungai Bena MP Kinoke Feo was at the Campus and addressed the students yesterday, however the student’s safety and welfare is paramount hence their appeal and call for immediate repatriation out of the UOG Campus.
