ELECTED Councillors in Morobe are now lobbying for the LLG Presidential seats around the province and an elected councilor is calling on a fair and just election.

Timini ward 1 councilor in Mumeng LLG, Bulolo, Kisip Angal said almost all councillors have been declared already and lobbying is currently going on for the Presidential seats and around the province.

But Angal, who is vying for the Mumeng LLG President seat said the seat they are aiming for is for the people and there must be no fowl play during the lobbying process.

Angal said whoever wins is everyone’s leader but for now, councillors must not be intimidated, forced, bribed, or even lured with money or promises to join any camps.

He said Mumeng LLG is an important LLG especially with the Wafi-Golpu project which they are the landowners and want a good leader to represent them in negotiating better benefits for the people that will come with the mine.

Angal said there is a huge need for service delivery in his LLG plus the others in the province and as such, councilors must put the interests of the people first and vote according to what their people desire.

“Whoever wins, we will all stand behind him to deliver to our people,” Angal said.
“Any leader that comes in must work together with our local MP, our Governor of Morobe and National Government and other stakeholders in delivering services to the people and especially the long-awaited Wafi-Golpu project.

” We must all work together to bring in the much needed services and benefits our people deserve.”

He called on former leaders, especially ward councilors who have lost their seats to refrain from trying to force current ward councilors to vote for the LLG Presidential candidates of their choice.

“Whoever former leaders who have lost their seats, please stay out and don’t try to influence councillors’ decisions.

” Don’t bring in winning councilors and try to market them because such actions is not for the good of the people.”

He said he has evidences of Presidential candidates trying to bribe councillors into their camps and he will not take this lightly.

Fellow councilors Vincent Laerence from Yanta ward 5 and Gene Yagam from Garausanang ward 21 in Mumeng LLG also shared the same frustrations saying they want to be able to elected without being forced or bribed to do so.

They said they represented their people and anyone trying to play any illegal activities during the lobbying process will be desktop with by the law.
