NIPA KUTUBU DDA REMITS K3.3m TO IRC

NIPA-Kutubu District Development Authority (NK DDA) recently presented Cheque of K3.33m for goods and services taxed (GST)-Withholding 65A compliance payment to Internal Revenue Commission (IRC) at Imbonggu Conference Room in Southern Highlands Province.

The IRC Provincial Manager for Southern Highlands Province, Mr. George Nathan applauded NK DDA for timely response fulfilling its statutory obligations in remitting GST- Withholding 65A compliance.

“Transparent and prompt action reflects strong partnership and responsible financial management by Nipa Kutubu District,” Nathan said.”

The GST- Withholding 65A is a mandatory requirement and all withholders are required to deduct 10 percent GST 65A Withholding, lodge and remit payment to IRC within the legal time frame.”

Nathan further reminded the attendees that GST 65A payment fall due on 21st every month and timely ajudgement is vital in order to avoid penalties, improve revenue, compliance and strengthen accountability across the Districts.

“Such payment contribute meaningfully to broader agenda of rebuilding and restoring SHP through enhanced revenue collection at the District levels,” Nathan said.

Mr. Nathan thanked the Defence Minister and Member for Nipa- Kutubu Dr. Billy Joseph for his continued stewardship for Nipa-Kutubu District.

Nipa-Kutubu Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mr. Camilus Ombalo said that previously the IRC tax was not paid.

“Today, the five districts of SHP are paying IRC tax in which the 60 percent goes directly to Provincial Government. So in the future, Provincial Government through the Provincial Administration should budget and allocate funds to Districts that are paying IRC tax,” Ombalo said.
