MUNIAU COMMUNITY TO HOST VOLLEYBALL TOURNEY

As the year winds down and the festive season gets underway, Muniau village in Buang, Bulolo is preparing to host a weeklong volleyball tournament for it’s young people.

The tournament, dubbed the MB Mini Volleyball Tournament will run from the 9th to the 15th of this month, with Tournament director Rinny Babun confirming that the tournament will be played in two divisions only.

β€œ We will have the men’s and the women’s divisions and registration is now open for teams, most of who are from our village,” Mr Babun said.

He said men’s teams will register for K40 while teams in the women’s division will enter the tournament at K30 each team. Mr Babun said teams in the men’s division will play for a total of K700 in cash prizes while the women’s division will be playing for K500 in cash prizes.

β€œIn the men’s division we will reward the top four with the winner taking out K300, K200 on second placing, K150 for third place and K70 for the fourth.”

He said the women’s teams finishing in the top four will walk away with K200, K150, K80 and K60 respectively.

Mr Babun said the number of teams that will be participating in this year’s tournament will be announced when registration is completed.

The Muniau ward development committee’s sports desk has confirmed also that the sporting activities are an annual event that is sponsored by elites from the village every Christmas as a fundraiser for various purposes including tuition fees for children from Muniau.

The tournament this year is sponsored by Reserve Constable Archie Darius from the Mumeng Police and will be played at the Semo Volleyball court in Muniau.
