THE National Fisheries Authority this week donated K1 million to Madang Provincial Health Authority to strengthen their operations and delivery of medical services.

The cheque was presented at Kina Bank House in Port Moresby today by NFA Managing Director Justin Illakini, and received by Dr. Martin Damien, CEO of the Madang Provincial Health Authority and Dr Jimmy Aipit Cheif Paediatrician at Madang Hospital

Dr. Damien said the funding will directly support several key pillars of health service delivery importantly financing, health infrastructure, staff housing, equipment, ICT systems, and essential medical supplies.

He stressed that when one part of the health system is weakened, the entire service delivery mechanism is affected.

Dr Damien thanked the National Fisheries Authority under the stewardship of Managing Director Justin Illakini his deputies and staff acknowledging their commitment to helping to strengthen Modilon Hospital and the wider Madang health system.

Dr. Damien said the support will contribute to improving medical officers’ housing and strengthening critical systems that enable safe and effective care for the people of Madang.

He also extended appreciation to the government under Prime Minister Marape Rosso for its ongoing support to Provincial Health Authorities.
