RABAUL DDA SWORN IN TOWN MAYOR AND LLG PRESIDENTS

RABAUL District has sworn in its 4 LLG leaders into the Rabaul District Development Authority (DDA) Board this week, at the district headquarters, Kurakakaul.
The swearing-in ceremony was conducted before the inaugural DDA Board convened to endorse the 2026 Rabaul District Budget framework.
The elected leaders included; Rabaul Town Mayor Timothy Kalua Biang who is newly elected, Michael Warium, retained he seat as the Kombiu LLG President, Balanataman President Leonard Maing also retain his seat and newly elected Watom President Matthew Pentecost Lome.
The swearing- in ceremony was officiated by the Senior Provincial Magistrate (SPM) Samuel Lavutul and witnessed by the Rabaul DDA Board Chairman Dr. Allan Marat, DDA Board representatives, DDA CEO Freddy Lemeki and district officers.
When officiating the swearing-in ceremony, SPM Lavutul told the new leaders that they have made their declarations of office and loyalty and that people will be closely monitoring them.
Meantime, the Rabaul MP and DDA Board Chairman Dr. Allan Marat who was also present congratulated the new town mayor and other three presidents for being elected by the people.
“You put your hand up and the people trusted you and have given you the power to represent them. You have to use that power in a responsible way in order to meet the needs of the people in your LLGs,” Marat said.
He further encouraged the politicians to put negativity aside and to work together with the administration in serving the people of Rabaul district.
The 4 LLG leaders will be sworn in to the ENB Provincial Assembly on Friday.
