FORMER Internal Revenue Commission Commissioner General Sam Koim is amongst the 15-candidates confirmed and have paid their nominations yesterday, to contest the Dei District By-Election.

Jeremiah Pim, the son of former MP Steven Pim, is also one of the contestants in the Dei Open by-election, endorsed by People’s First party to run for the seat left vacant by his father, after his passing.

The Dei by-election will run through to 2026, and the number of candidates vying for the top seat is expected to grow, before the close of nomination today at 4:06pm.

Western Highlands Provincial Elections Manager Philip Telape received the nomination yesterday at the Electoral Commission office in Mt Hagen City.

Koim says it was not an easy decision but time has come for him to move on, and he has already tendered his resignation to the Treasurer Ian Ling Stuckey and Prime Minister James Marape, and also farewelled his former staff.

Koim have served the country in various capacities for more than a decade.
