TRANSPARENCY International PNG (TIPNG) and the National Department of Education (NDoE) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formally launch the updating and national Roll-Out of the School Based Civic Education (SBCE) Curriculum, supported by the Australia-Papua New Guinea Law and Justic Partnership (APLJ).

The NDoE has been a committed partner since 1998, when TIPNG first embarked on its mission to promote civic education in PNG.

This 3rd renewed memorandum of Understanding (MoU), spanning 2025-2028, initiates the critical phase of updating the materials and executing the full national roll-out of the School Based Civic Education Curriculum.

TIPNG’s CEO, Arianne Kassman says TIPNG’s vision is to foster a country where all citizens operate within the rule of law and are free from corruption and TIPNG is committed to this vision through the development of the school-Based Civic Education Program.
The program promotes active citizenship, good governance, accountability, transparency, and integrity among students. The curriculum also includes teacher resource books, student readers, DVDs, an android phone application, posters, and teacher training programs.

The Secretary for Education, Dr. Uke Kombra congratulates TIPNG for its productive and impactful project which has seen significant improvements in education since its inception in 1998.

He called for this SBCE curriculum to be rolled out in all schools in PNG backing teaching and learning from Primary to High Schools.
