THE districts of Bulolo and Wau Waria in Morobe Province have signed agreements with the Cocoa Board of Papua New Guinea to enhance cocoa production.

They signed a two year Memorandum of Agreement (2026-2028) last week which can be extended for another year.

The MoA covers all value chain of cocoa production which will have quarterly and yearly review provided by CCB.

CCB CEO, Jesse Anjen said almost K1 billion from cocoa went directly to the farmers this year and they want to see more of this as more farmers tap into cocoa.

Anjen said they are developing a lot of programs and are going into partnerships with districts, mining areas like the Wafi-Golpu Mine area to increase production of cocoa.

Bulolo District Administrator, Joe Paru on behalf of Bulolo and Wau Waria districts said both districts are heavily involved in coffee and gold and are not so into cocoa farming.

And with the agreement, they will now get more of their people into fstning cocoa.

CCB National Coordinator for Morobe, Anton Ningi said poduction stands at 7,000 tones in Morobe this year.

He said K166m was directly paid to farmers with Markham producing round 3,000 tons followed by Tewae Siassi district.
