NFA SUPPORTS MANUS N’DRUAKEI PROJECT WITH K6 MILLION

THE National Fisheries Authority today presented a cheque of K6 million to the Manus Provincial Government for the Ndruakei Project.

Fisheries and Minister Hon. Jelta Wong presented the cheque to Governor of Manus Hon. Charlie Benjamin.

N’Drauke Industrial Port is one of the major development projects as part of the government’s commitment to enhance infrastructure and economic development in the province.

Governor Benjamin in receiving the cheque was so thankful to Minister Wong, and the Managing Director of the National Fisheries Authority Mr Justin Ilakini for the funding support, stating that the funding will not go to waste, but will be utilised in the project.

Governor Benjamin says, feasibility studies have been undertaken into this project and with the support from NFA, it will assist in the project.

NFA Managing Director Mr Ilakini highlights the significance of the East New Britain Initiative, stating all the development framework in the region is featured in the ENBi, and this is where the Ndrauke project and other PMIZ comes in.

Mr Ilakini says, NFA has been through a lot in transforming policies in the last 3 years, to attract investors, change the way of doing business, and also put in place new policies that are conducive to do business, highlighting on the recently launched Domestication Policy designed to allow investors and global players.

He further congratulates Governor Benjamin for making Manus a Free Trade Region and adds that the K6 million funding is just the beginning of more support from NFA.
