THE Governor-General of Papua New Guinea, Grand Chief Sir Bob Dadae, has extended warm Christmas and New Year greetings to all citizens. He says the festive season is a time for celebration, reflection and reuniting with family and friends and for Christians, a special occasion to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.

Reflecting on 2025, which marked PNG’s 50th Independence anniversary, Sir Bob highlights the nation’s journey of challenges and achievements. He stresses the importance of unity in diversity and urges citizens to protect the country’s resources while using the knowledge and wisdom gained over five decades to build a better and prosperous PNG.

Grand Chief Sir Bob acknowledges PNG’s Christian heritage and pays tribute to the early missionaries who contributed to the nation’s faith, health and education systems. He reminds all citizens to cultivate good attitudes, demonstrate kindness, empathy and respect. Also, to act with integrity in their daily lives, echoing Galatians 6:9 about perseverance in doing good.

He also recognises the dedication of servicemen and women, healthcare workers, volunteers, churches and businesses who continue to serve communities during the festive season, often at personal risk. Their courage, compassion and selflessness.

Sir Bob says, reflect the true spirit of humanity and the nation’s gratitude as we celebrate Christmas and New Year, and urges all Papua New Guineans to embrace generosity, kindness, and respect, living in peace and extending goodwill at every opportunity.

He and Lady Emeline join in wishing everyone a very merry Christmas and a productive, successful and blessed New Year 2026.
